Hundertwasser's comment on the work

I had been evacuated to live with the Blauensteiner family up near an old mill, to avoid the bombing raids. Forty years later I looked for the family and didn't find them.(from: Hundertwasser 1928-2000, Catalogue Raisonné, Vol. 2, Taschen, Cologne, 2002, p. 90)
