Hundertwasser's comment on the work

Furoshiki is a simple square cloth. It is a multipurpose wrapping and carrying item in order to wrap anything in any form and size and to carry it. A wrapping should be used very long and over and over again. When the wrapping is beautiful it also makes fun. When a wrapping can be used for different purposes, it is also practical. The multipurpose-bundle-gift-wrap is timeless, environmentally, friendly, washable and useable over and over again in contradiction to the wasting use of plastic bags and throw-away wrapping paper. The multipurpose-bundle-gift-wrap is a contribution for the avoidance of wrap garbage. It is beautiful and traditional. It is an art object. The multipurpose-bundle-gift-wrap is a stimulus for a new wrapping culture. In Japan this wrapping culture exists for centuries. The wrap-and-carry cloth is called Furoshiki.
