Hundertwasser's comment on the work
Actually I wanted to develop the theme of the cathedral of 1951 (104) and 1953 (573) further, this time with ground dirt I had found myself, mixing it with egg tempera. The painting can also be turned upside down. I often signed upside down so the viewer can let the colours and composition take effect on him. In the exhibition at Raymond Cordier's in 1960 I even announced that I would turn the pictures by 90 degrees every week.
