Hundertwasser's comment on the work
A picture which as a picture is self-explanatory. Stories can only wind themselves around pictures on the outside, e.g., the price they bring at auction, inheritance disputes over the picture, stories about restoration or technique, theft, forgeries, where I happened to paint it, etc. But trying to get into the pictures with words is like a fish trying to fly to the moon. There is too much in between. Besides, the same picture sets very different feelings in motion from one person to the next.
