Hundertwasser's comment on the work

The participants paint horizontally, on tables, and not vertically, on easels. From above a person comes to understand his or her correct relationship to the surroundings, free of the distorted, bogus proportions of perspective. The interplay of forces and values can be made out more clearly. Everything horizontal belongs to nature, and we are her guests. I always paint my paintings flat on a table, anyway, as if everything were seen from above. I am no easel painter, for I did not want to get involved with the temptations of perspective, which falsifies true proportions and relations. Seen from above, everything has its correct size and its correct place. Besides, my arm soon gets tired in front of an easel. I can rest it on a table.
