Prof. Burri asked Hundertwasser to add to the planned design for the institute building with a centrally integrated large greenhouse. Hundertwasser's design included vegetation on the roof, uneven outer walls in earthen colours and black glass frames. However, as the planning architect were only willing to agree to the painting of the outer walls, but not to Hundertwasser's suggestions as an architecture doctor, Hundertwasser withdrew from the project.
